UPSC Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must possess the prescribed educational qualifications and relevant experience for the post they intend to apply for.

For Assistant Legislative Counsel, eligible experience routes include at least seven years of specified judicial or government legal service, or a master’s degree in law with at least five years of teaching or research experience. Qualified legal practitioners meeting the advertisement’s requirements may also apply.
For Junior Technical Officer, qualifying experience includes teaching, research or advisory work in Sugar Technology, or managerial experience in a sugar factory.

UPSC Recruitment 2026 Salary
Selected candidates will receive a salary according to the applicable pay level under the 7th Central Pay Commission.

Candidates can pay the fee online through UPI, debit card, credit card or internet banking. Once paid, the application fee is non-refundable.
Selection Process
The UPSC selection process may include shortlisting, a recruitment test and an interview.
If the number of applications is large, UPSC may shortlist applicants on the basis of qualifications, relevant experience, desirable qualifications or a recruitment test.
The minimum suitability marks for the interview are given below.

If a recruitment test is conducted, candidates must meet the required suitability standard in both the test and the interview. UPSC will decide the minimum standard for the recruitment test separately.

- Create an account and complete Universal Registration to obtain a URN.
- Fill in the Common Application Form with personal and educational information.
- Select the relevant vacancy and complete the post-specific application.

- Pay the prescribed application fee, if applicable.
- Carefully review all the information and submit the application.
- Save or print the final application form and application number for future reference.
Candidates must also capture a live photograph during the application process. UPSC requires three signatures, one below another, written in black ink on plain white paper.
